A Turn in the Pathway
Original Watercolor Painting | 5 x 7 inches
There are moments in nature that invite you to slow down, take a breath, and simply be present. A Turn in the Pathway was inspired by one of those moments and I tried to capture it as a watercolor.
On a quiet early morning, I carried my watercolor supplies into the woods and discovered this peaceful bend in the trail. Soft morning light filtered through the trees, casting long violet-blue shadows across the path while fresh green foliage glowed in the cool air. Surrounded by birdsong and the stillness of the forest, I painted on location, capturing the fleeting light and atmosphere before the day fully awakened.
Created in watercolor with expressive, transparent washes, this painting reflects the spontaneity and immediacy of plein air painting. Rather than focusing on every detail, I sought to convey the feeling of walking through a sunlit woodland path and experiencing the calm beauty of the morning. Watercolor can be a challenging medium but I think this one turned out rather well!
