The original work was Painted on location-inspired reference with expressive brushwork and vivid color celebrates the unmistakable silhouette of the historic St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum rising above palms and live oaks. I started this painting while participating in the prestigious St. Augustine Plein Air Event in 2026. 

On the very last day of the event, I had finally decided that I wanted to paint the lighthouse. I set up my easel and canvas and the scene was truly inspiring. For the composition, I wanted to play on the double vertical of the tree and lighthouse and contrast it to the curved road. I thought the street signs added a pop of color to the painting. There is also a secret red invisible triangle between the lighthouse, stop sign and my signature in the lower right corner. 

The bold red lantern, brilliant blue sky, and sunlit foliage evoke the warmth and nostalgia of a perfect day in America’s oldest city.

This piece balances architectural precision with painterly atmosphere, creating a vibrant contemporary interpretation of one of Florida’s most beloved landmarks.

A little about me: 
 I am a working artist. My undergraduate and graduate degrees in art are from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with additional graduate work at Johnson State University in Vermont. I have also completed several artist residencies, including Vermont Studio Center and SCUOLA di ARS GRAFICA in Venice, Italy.

My works have been shown nationally and internationally in over 60 juried exhibitions and solo shows. Recent exhibitions include the Blue Mountain Gallery in NYC, San Diego Museum of Art and Savannah College of Art and Design. I have been a visiting artist at several universities and have won awards for my work. I’ve also shown my work in the UK, Italy, France, Germany and China.
