I was fascinated by the fallen logs and detritus on the floor of the woods near my home. I took my watercolors and pens on a long walk and this was my painting. This watercolor would be perfect for a person who wants a lovely reminder of the beauty of the forest floor. 

Deep in the woods, nature is constantly reshaping itself. Trees fall, branches twist, and the forest floor becomes a tapestry of textures, colors, and intersecting forms. I captured this organized chaos in my watercolor.

A little about me: 
I am a working artist. My undergraduate and graduate degrees in art are from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with additional graduate work at Johnson State University in Vermont. I have also completed several artist residencies, including Vermont Studio Center and SCUOLA di ARS GRAFICA in Venice, Italy.

I've been teaching painting, drawing and art history at the University level for nearly 30 years. 

My works have been shown nationally and internationally in over 60 juried exhibitions and solo shows. Recent exhibitions include the Blue Mountain Gallery in NYC, San Diego Museum of Art and Savannah College of Art and Design. I have been a visiting artist at several universities and have won awards for my work. I’ve also shown my work in the UK, Italy, France, Germany and China. My works have been collected by individuals, businesses and museums.
