When I set up my easel and watercolors in front of the main gate of the Magic Kingdom, several security guards approached me.

But then they figured out I was an artist and they really enjoyed watching this watercolor come to life.

This 6x6 inch original watercolor was painted en plein air just steps from the entrance to Magic Kingdom. While the crowds moved toward the castle and their favorite attractions, I slowed down and spent several hours observing and painting this iconic train station, letting the light, color, and atmosphere unfold naturally.

What makes this piece even more special is the experience behind it. As I painted, nearly 30 Disney cast members stopped by. They were curious, encouraging, and eager to connect. We talked about art, about Disney, about storytelling. That spirit of community and shared wonder is layered into every brushstroke.

The soft washes of watercolor combined with expressive ink lines give this piece a lively, sketchbook feel. I tried to capture my own feelings about the Magic Kingdom. Thinking back to my first visit in 1976, I have always been enchanted by the design and architecture of the parks. I've always loved the Victorian inspiration of Main Street. Be on the lookout for more images that I made from my recent trip to WDW.
