Rather than painting from photographs, I created the originals plein air, a fancy term that means painting directly in the landscape. Working outdoors allows me to respond to the changing light, wind, color, and atmosphere of the place. You can see that immediacy in the expressive brushwork and rich layers of paint.
“Fence” and "Old Dune" focus on the simple rhythm of sand, sea, and sky, with weathered vegetation anchoring the foreground.
